40th FGMR Annual Discussion Meeting
Leipzig, September 10-13, 2018

The settlement of Leipzig was first mentioned about 1.000 years ago by the Bishop of Merseburg.
Here, two ancient trading routes crossed: the Via regia (east/west) and the Via imperii (north/south).  

Trading was always in the focus of the Leipzigers, and 1165 the right to hold markets was established. Until our modern days Trade Fairs dominate the life of Leipzig.

Since the old days, Leipzig is a city of music, art, poetry and intellectual life.

The University was founded in 1409 as Alma Mater Lipsiensis. Today, 30 000 students are enroled at Leipzig University.

Chemical Labs were established in 1840. Wilhelm Ostwald received Nobel Prize in 1909. In a Golden time, scholars as Heisenberg, Hund, Bloch, Debye and Bonhoeffer were interacting.

The first NMR experiment in Germany was conducted by Lösche and Pfeiffer in 1951 in Leipzig. Richard Ernst called Leipzig to be the "Ostpol" (East pole) of magnetic resonance.

EPR Meeting of the "SP 1601" Group

The final symposium of the "EPR Schwerpunktprogramm"SP 1601" will be part of this FGMR Meeting.

Nach dem postgradualem Aufbaustudium "Analytik & Spektroskopie" sind Teilnehmer mit einem Hoch- oder Fachhochschulabschluss in Chemie oder verwandten Fächern berechtigt, zur Berufsbezeichnung den Zusatz "Fachchemiker (Fachingenieur) für Analytik und Spektroskopie" zu führen.
