Travel by Airplane

The Airport Leipzig-Halle is situated about 15 km in the North-West of Leipzig.

Some national connections are offered from Berlin, Köln/Bonn, Düsseldort, Stuttgart and München, a few international connections as well.

The local trains (S-Bahn) leaves every 30 min. and needs 20 min. to Leipzig central City ("Main station/Hbf" or "Old Market Place/ Marktplatz").

Travel by Train

Leipzig is well connected to the Intercity Network (ICE) of Deutsche Bahn.

The west-east line Frankfurt/Main - Dresden and the north-south line Berlin - München cross here.

The  railway terminal "Hauptbahnhof / Hbf." straight to the city center offers local trains via tunnel to city center ("Markt", "Wilhelm-Leuschner-platz", "Bayerischer Bahnhof") .

Travel by Car

For routing to Leipzig by car you may use Highway A9 from Berlin (southbound) or München (northbound), Highway A2/A14 from Hannover (eastbound), from Göttingen A38 (eastbound).

Free parking places within the city are not present, but public parking houses are available in large amount. Ask your Hotel for a private parking house.

The parking situation is a little bit better outside of the city centre.

Recommandation for the conference: Parking House "Augustusplatz" in front of the campus building.

Beware of thieves (as in all large cities): do not leave luggage or visible bags in your car. 

Local Public Transport

The city of  Leipzig owns a well structured web of Tram and Bus routes.

A tube for local trains (S-Bahn) between Terminal Railway Station (Hbf.) und Bayerischer Platz yields stops just in the centre of the city (Markt,and Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz) .
